Yokabed Ashenafi is the Summer Intern for the Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University. As the Summer Intern, she provides administrative assistance and outreach support for the Initiative. She works to facilitate connections between the Initiative and its partners. Yokabed is an undergraduate student at Brown concentrating in Public Health, while pursuing the pre-med track. As an international student from Ethiopia, she is interested in learning more about global health, and ways to improve healthcare delivery in underserved communities around the world. Her research interest lies in developing tools that ensure quality healthcare in resource limited settings. She has previously interned at GHETS, a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing global health, and currently volunteers for BRYTE, a student led organization at Brown that provides tutoring to students in refugee families.
