In 1969, French filmmaker Pierre Barouh captured the changing of the guard in Brazilian popular music, capturing the Old Guard represented by João da Baiana and Pixinguinha as well as the generation of artists that included Maria Bethânia, Paulinho da Viola, and Baden Powell.
