Brown Co-Sponsors Conference in São Paulo, Brazil on 1964 Coup

March 31, 2014

Brown co-sponsored a conference held at the University of São Paulo from March 24-27, 2014 entitled "The 1964 Coup and the Wave of Authoritarianism in Latin America." The collaboration between James N. Green, Professor of History and Director of the Brazil Initiative at Brown and Brazilian colleagues was a major undertaking. The four-day long event addressed the legacy of the dictatorship in Brazil, as well as exploring the larger local context in Latin America and the global perspective informing it.
