David Mittelman is a doctoral student and teaching assistant. He is currently pursuing two lines of research in Brazilian literature. The first develops a comparison of the literatures of the Brazilian sertão with those of the semi-arid Western United States. The second explores manifestations of philosophical skepticism in modern Brazilian literary prose.
