Katherine Chavez is a second-year undergraduate student at Brown University, where she intends to study Art History and Latin American Studies, focusing on Latin American art. A native of Los Angeles, California, she has worked at various arts institutions in the city, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) studying arts education, The Box Gallery Los Angeles, and the Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT) Gallery through the Getty Center's Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Program, where she specifically worked on their upcoming exhibition on Argentinian artist León Ferrari. In the past, she has been involved with the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) and the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, and also works as a Minority Peer Counselor at Brown. She hopes to soon begin a project investigating the contemporary Latin American art collection at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Museum.
