Barry Naughton, the So Kwanlok Professor of Chinese International Affairs at the University of California, San Diego (Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies), is a leading expert on China's economy.  Author of The Chinese Economy (MIT Press, 2006), Growing Out of the Plan (Cambridge, 1996), and many other books and articles, Professor Naughton will speak about the challenges currently faced by the Chinese economy, and the controversial policy responses that have been undertaken by China's new leadership since the 18th Party Congress in late 2012.
