"Finding Jerusalem: Archaeology Between Science and Politics," with Katharina Galor, Visiting Assistant Professor of Judaic Studies.

Excavations conducted in the City of David / the Palestinian village of Silwan as well as on, under and near the Temple Mount / Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem have captured the local and international media attention in recent years. Those activities will be examined in light of the developing discourse on cultural heritage and the ongoing struggle to differentiate between scientific validity and objectivity, religious zeal and political partisanship.

Free and open to Brown Community.

Location: McKinney Conference Room, Watson Institute, 111 Thayer Street.
