The Future of the Middle East and North Africa

The Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts University invites the Brown community to the 29th  Norris and Margery Bendetson EPIIC International Symposium, this year entitled “The Future of the Middle East and North Africa.” The symposium will be held at Tufts University in Medford, MA and will run from February 27 to March 2, 2014.

This year’s focus on the MENA region will include topics such as the collapse of authoritarian state structures, socio-economic concerns, environmental issues, civil-military relations, nuclear proliferation, religious extremism, and of course, peace-building and post-conflict reconciliation.

This year’s symposium is co-sponsored by the International Crisis Group and the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional participating organizations include the United States Institute for Peace, The Hague Institute for Global Justice, The Naval Post Graduate School, Jadaliyya, The Arab Studies Institute, the Palestine Research Center, the Jerusalem Center for International Affairs, Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Northeastern’s Middle East Center for Peace, Culture and Development, and The Crown Center at Brandeis.
