Middle East Studies Administrative Coordinator
This position serves as the administrative coordinator for daily office operations, pro-actively organizes the faculty director’s schedule, and travel plans, and supports financial processes and regular and ad-hoc committee meetings. The incumbent coordinates various administrative processes for the program to effectively support the work of the office on matters related to governance, courses and undergraduate affairs, and also supports general programming and events, as well as communications and outreach activities inclusive of web, social media, and digital newsletters.
The ideal candidate will be customer service-oriented, resourceful, and proactive, with a strong aptitude for developing a sound understanding of the growing program.
Associate's degree and two to three years administrative experience, preferably in an academic setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and successfully manage multiple priorities in a busy atmosphere with varying deadlines and diverse stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, sound judgement and proofing skills.
Strong ability to interact with multiple audiences and people from diverse backgrounds.
Proficient in and prior experience working with the Google productivity suite - Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, Spreadsheet, Presentations, and working with Microsoft Office products.
Previous experience with administrating the back-office of websites, preferably using Drupal 7 and Wordpress platforms
Strong technical aptitude for the independent management of departmental web sites and social media accounts, and e-newsletters, as well as the aptitude for proficient use of multiple software applications used at Brown (CAB, COGNOS, Workday, 25Live, ASK, and others).
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and handle confidential materials.
