Congratulating Governor Lincoln Chafee

January 3, 2011

The Watson Institute congratulates Lincoln Chafee ’75 on the occasion of his inauguration as governor of Rhode Island.

Prior to campaigning for governor, Chafee was a distinguished visiting fellow at the Institute from January 2007 through June 2009. During this time, he shared his insights and experiences with Brown students and faculty on the inner workings of Capitol Hill, from his tenure as US senator from Rhode Island and his service on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The governor was also instrumental in bringing policy leaders from Washington and other world capitals to campus, and he authored a book, Against the Tide: How a Compliant Congress Empowered a Reckless President.

Chafee is a Brown alum, from the class of 1975.
