Tim Nguyen is head of investments at the University of Connecticut Foundation, where he manages a multi-asset class portfolio. In 2009, he was recognized by Euromoney Institutional Investor for being a “Rising Star of Foundations and Endowment. Prior to joining the Foundation, Nguyen was with the Texas Treasury, where he initiated and led the firm's Alternative Investments Division. Before beginning his career in institutional investing, Mr. Nguyen learned the art of credit analysis and financial fraud at MBIA, BNP Paribas, Fitch Rating Agency, Texas Commerce Bank, American Skandia, and The Royal Bank of Scotland. Nguyen is also the research coordinator for the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Initiative System at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Partners Healthcare in Boston.
Nguyen holds an undergraduate degree (magna cum laude) in psychology and political science from the University of Houston. He earned an MA in Religion from Yale University, where he was the Henry Hallam Tweedy Scholar. Nguyen also earned a Master of Public Administration degree (with a focus in economics and public policy) from Columbia University, a MA in development studies from Brown University, and a MBA from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
