Ian graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations, with a regional focus on China and a particular emphasis on China-U.S. relations. His research focus culminated in a paper, "Taiwan's Deterrence Question," which analyzes the likelihood of the next Strait crisis from a regional security lens. Ian has professional experience as an intern at the Financial Times in Hong Kong. Ian's goal is to pursue a professional career in international development or security. Ian grew up in the bustling cultural mixing pot of Hong Kong, where from an early age he developed a penchant for learning languages, which include English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and French.
