Shashank majored in economics with a minor in international relations at the School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, one of India's top liberal arts colleges. He has presented his research internationally, winning a best paper award at an Istanbul conference for research on the dynamics of international political economy. His undergraduate dissertation evaluated the econometric models and framework of the political instability/economic performance duality for emerging markets — an area he plans to continue to research.
