Biography

Shashank majored in economics with a minor in international relations at the School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, one of India's top liberal arts colleges.  Shashank first became interested in international affairs through his exposure to Model UN. He has presented his research internationally, winning a best paper award at an Istanbul conference for research on the dynamics of international political economy. His undergraduate dissertation evaluated the econometric models and framework of the political instability/economic performance duality for emerging markets — an area he plans to continue to research. At Brown, Shashank is focusing on political economy by studying international and regional organizations in cross-country negotiations on international security and economic policy. He aspires to join the Indian political system later on in his career. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Gujarati.
