Sonia graduated from Oxford University with a bachelor’s degree in French and Italian. She became interested in public policy after volunteering for the NGO, Mano a Mano, participating in a development project aimed to provide sustainable water sources to remote rural communities in Bolivia. The following year, she became project coordinator and organized a new project focused on implementing biofilters to help more Bolivian communities deal with water shortages. Sonia has developed her passion for public policy through courses on sustainable development and global affairs. Her capstone paper, “Why Are Global Problems So Hard to Solve: The Problem of Global Warming,” was published as part of an e-book. Sonia’s professional goal is to work in the public sector, focusing on environmental sustainability and development. Sonia was born in Palm Springs, California and has also lived in Maryland, Madrid, and London.
