Undergraduate Lunch with Adaner Usmani

Thursday, November 9, 2017

12:00pm – 1:30pm

South Common Room

This informal lunch program is intended for undergraduates to meet and learn from Adaner.

Adaner Usmani received his PhD in Sociology from New York University in 2017, and his BA in Social Studies from Harvard College.  His research interests span two different areas. His dissertation examines the rise and fall of labor movements over the 20th and early 21st centuries, and considers the effects of these facts for political change. In other work, he has written about American mass incarceration, with an eye on the racial politics of its origins and reproduction.  Most of his work uses computational and quantitative methods, but he retains a keen interest in the comparative historical method, and in qualitative social science more generally.  He was born in Pakistan, but has spent the last half of his life in the United States.
