Erika Olsen - Public Policy, the FCC, and the Communications Sector

Nearly every aspect of modern life relies on communications to function. From banking to e-commerce, from smart devices in homes to wireless 911 calls in times of emergency, we rely on communications technologies and networks. Olsen will focus on the FCC's policy making process and its role in shaping the communications industry through the lens of some of some of today's cutting-edge issues as these networks evolve to new broadband platforms.

Erika Olsen is senior legal counsel to the chief of the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. She is responsible for addressing policy initiatives for the Bureau including those related to public safety spectrum, the 911 system, and cybersecurity workforce development. Olsen previously served as the acting legal advisor to FCC chairman Kevin J. Martin and was a partner at a large international law firm. She received her BA from Yale University, and her JD, magna cum laude, from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
