Senior Research Advisor, Migration and Displacement Initiative, Save the Children International
Dr. Josiah Kaplan serves as Senior Research Advisor, Migration and Displacement Initiative at Save the Children International, leading the development and implementation of the organization’s international research and learning agenda for migrant and displaced children. He is also a Research Associate at the University of Oxford Refugee Studies Centre, where he conducts research on humanitarian civil-military coordination and knowledge diffusion, and is co-chair of the Civil-Military Pandemic Response Network (CMPRN). Over the last 15 years, Josiah has worked as an academic researcher, consultant and practitioner for humanitarian NGOs and the UN system on a wide range of thematic areas related to humanitarian affairs, with a focus on human security, including civil-military coordination, forced displacement, peace operations, and social protection. As Senior Research Adviser for Elrha, Save the Children UK, Josiah most recently helped guide development of the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) and the Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) grants, and conducted advocacy for public health research and evidence quality in the humanitarian system. He holds a Phd and a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and a BA from Dartmouth College."
