Nearing the End of the Samarco Dam Settlement
The office of Brazil's attorney-general hopes to close the civil lawsuit against Samarco, the mining company responsible for the November 2015 dam disaster in the state of Minas Gerais, by Friday February 19, 2016. The settlemet would grant Samarco license to continue operations and cost the company R$20bn in damages, but some prosecutos say this is not enough.
