CHRHS Fall Speaker Series: Dr. Aguiar

Dr. Leonar Giovanni Aguiar Martínes is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and Attending Physician of Emergency Medicine at San Ignacio Hospital, one of the busiest public hospitals in Bogotá, Colombia. In addition, Dr. Aguiar is the Director of Clinical Simulation for the San Ignacio Hospital where he oversees the education and training of students and trainees as an expert educator. He is a nationally renowned researcher focused in prehospital care, health care access and equity.

Dr. Aguiar learned medicine through the years of conflict in Colombia, with first-hand experience as a new physician practicing in the Northern city of Cúcuta. As his career progressed, he witnessed the transition of the country into a post-conflict era. Dr. Aguiar became instrumental in the establishment of Emergency Medicine as a new specialty in Colombia bringing home expertise gained through an advanced Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
