Lily Bui is a PhD candidate in MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning. Her work emphasizes the impact of the critical functionality of institutions and systems around human settlement. This discussion will approach the topic of human security from the perspective of urban studies and planning to explore the role that urbanization plays in contributing to the risk and resilience of places and people in the face of human threats such as climate change and chronic violence.
This lecture is part of the CHRHS Human Security Seminar Series, which brings in leading experts to explore the most pressing issues facing humanity and the diverse organizations who are responding to them. This seminar series, which is open to all, will feature six discussion based lectures over the course of the Fall 2019.
