Systematic Review of Humanitarian Logistic Models for Medical and Healthcare Products in Humanitarian Emergencies in Africa

Funded through the HI² Research Seed Grant Program, this study’s goal is to enhance overall logistics service quality in the delivery of health and medical care in emergency humanitarian contexts in Africa and other developing regions. Towards this goal, the study: 1. Reviews and classifies the range of published logistics models for sourcing, delivery and distribution of medical and healthcare products for humanitarian emergencies in Africa from 1990 to 2015; 2. Assesses and identifies effective models based on logistics performance criteria; and 3. Develops a flexible, adaptable high performance model for sourcing, delivery and distribution of medical and healthcare products for humanitarian emergencies in Africa and other developing regions.
