This event will feature a panel on representations of LGBTQ+ people in the contemporary Middle East and North Africa region. Featuring Swathmore Professor Sa’ed Atshan, journalist Antoun Issa, and cofounder of Solidarity with Egypt LGBTQ+ and NOH8 Egypt activist Dalia Alfaghal, this event is an overdue conversation on an important underrepresented community.

Partner Events

Students who identify as both LGBTQ+ and SWANA are invited to attend a casual pre-event dinner in the BCSC Formal Lounge at 5:30 pm. This will be a safe space for community members to share their experiences and connect.
