After transferring from private to public school in Egypt, 12-year-old Hany makes an error in French class leading everyone to believe that he is Muslim when he is actually Christian. In an attempt to fit in, he goes along with the premise, his comical mishaps speaking to larger issues of class and religious identity in modern Egypt.
