Jiran: The Arabic Community Action Summer

Jiran is a Middlebury College-run summer program for colloquial Arabic The program pairs Arabic students with underserved Arabic-speaking families in New Britain, Connecticut for an intensive linguistic and intercultural learning experience. Students participating in Jiran 2018 will have daily Arabic instruction, volunteer placements with organizations serving refugees and immigrants in the US, and lectures by experts in forced migration and intercultural development.
Applications for the 2018 program are due March 8th, and Arabic students who have participated in a Middlebury Arabic program anywhere in the world, regardless of their home college or university, are eligible for participation.
