Faiz Ahmed, Joukowsky Family Distinguished Associate Professor of Modern Middle East History

We are tremendously pleased that, effective July 1, 2020,  Faiz Ahmed has been appointed Joukowsky Family Distinguished Associate Professor of Modern Middle East History. This is a befitting tribute to Faiz’s distinguished work as a scholar of amazing range and imagination. His first, prize-winning book brought together the history of the Ottoman Empire and modern Afghanistan. His recent and forthcoming work is helping chart new historical pathways stretching between South Asia, the Middle East, the British Empire, and North America. And Faiz’s dedication to his students has been a cornerstone of the MES concentration at Brown.
