Professor Ariella Azoulay Awarded the Spring 2022 Berlin Prize

January 28, 2022

Ariella Azoulay

Ariella Azoulay, a professor of modern culture and media and comparative literature, received the prestigious Spring 2022 Berlin Prize. Professor Azoulay will spend the semester in Berlin completing her “Algerian Epistolary Treaty,” a series of letters addressed to family members, authors of texts about Algeria, and companions in her academic work, who all share a place in her effort to “potentialize” and decolonize the history of Algerian Jews (and “Jewish history” more generally).

The Berlin Prize is a residential fellowship at the Hans Arnhold Center, awarded to twenty-two American or US-based scholars, writers, and artists by the American Academy in Berlin.
