Jana Omar Elkhatib (b. 1997, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi) is a Palestinian-Canadian artist and writer. Her work across performance, sound, and fiction has been supported by the Banff Centre, La Corvée Paris, 7a*11d Festival Toronto, the Canada Council for the Arts, and Canadian Art magazine among others. Elkhatib is currently an MFA candidate in fiction at Brown.
Jana will discuss research on the 1982 Israeli Invasion of Lebanon, travel between Saida and Beirut, and the important social connections that illuminated oral histories failed by the archives (and their nauseas: as per the title, after Walid Sadek, in conversation).
