Maya Avelino Bencosme

Maya Avelino Bencosme is pursuing a BA in Middle East Studies and International and Public Affairs. She is interested in migrant and legal studies as well as literature and poetry. The CMES Travel Award will allow her to travel to Palestine to work with legal practitioners and conduct research for her senior thesis on perceptions of criminality and language in current grassroots legal work in Palestine as compared to depictions in turn of the 20th century Palestinian legal fiction.
