Ramil Zamanov is a Ph.D. candidate at Charles University in Prague and closely collaborates with the Institute of Social Anthropology, University of Bern. Previously, they obtained their MA degree in Gender Studies from Charles University. Ramil is an interdisciplinary researcher of Gender, Queer, and Masculinity Studies whose main research focus is the South Caucasus, in particular Azerbaijan. Their dissertation (‘Queer Masculinities in Azerbaijan’) explores the queer community in Azerbaijan by studying the various issues of homophobia, queer/gay militarization and nationalism, and separation of the Azerbaijani LGBTQI+ community. Ramil is currently a guest lecturer at Applied Sciences of Potsdam University in Germany and Visiting Research Fellow at Brown University.
