Researcher and Photographer

Rym Khene is a researcher and a photographer. She holds a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from the Sorbonne Nouvelle and her current research focuses on literary and photographic representations of the city. She has published texts and photographs in different magazines and collective books. Revolution(s) in the making: for a potential history of photography in Algeria

While images have played a determining role in the representations and counter-representations of crucial phases of Algerian history, what could these images suggest about the general history of photography? This presentation aims to showcase a certain number of images, starting from the beginnings of photography onto contemporary practices in order to discuss an approach for potential work on the history of photography in Algeria.
