"Global Economic Crisis Brings the Next Wave of Change in Post-Communist Europe," with Alfred Gusenbauer, former chancellor of Austria, and visiting professor of international studies.
The global economic crisis is having varying – and sometimes astonishing – political impacts in Central and Eastern Europe. These have played out in recent presidential elections in Romania, Croatia, and Ukraine. And more will be evident in upcoming parliamentary elections in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.
Join former Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer, a visiting professor at the Watson Institute, in a real-time analysis of the changes sweeping through the region. What are the new political fault lines? What is the influence of nationalism? Is corruption a factor? Are new models for the state emerging in Central and Eastern Europe?
Location: Joukowsky Forum, Watson Institute, 111 Thayer Street.
