“What Next Left? The Implications for the World of the European-Wide Debate on Social Democracy’s Renewal.”

Alfred Gusenbauer, the former Austrian chancellor, a Watson visiting professor, and a leading figure in the Socialist International, has written a forward to a collection entitled Next Left: Contributions to a European Wide Debate (Belgium: The Foundation of European Progressive Studies, 2009), edited by Ernst Stetter, Karl Duffek, and Ania Skrzypek. Gusenbauer will introduce the volume, followed by commentary from a number of colleagues explaining the prospects of that Left not only in Europe but across the world.

Gusenbauer's forward and the collection are available online. They can be read here in advance of the event.

Location: Joukowsky Forum, Watson Institute, 111 Thayer Street.
