“Health Care: Perspectives on Priorities in Denmark and the European Union”
A Lecture by Danish Minister for the Interior and Health Bertel Haarder

With changing demographics and the growth of the health care industry, prioritization of resources becomes paramount. Danish Minister for the Interior and Health Bertel Haarder will offer a Danish perspective on priorities in health care as a product of the democratic decision making process. He will cover the process whereby the European Union harmonizes European priorities in health care and provide his perspective on the challenges to addressing inequalities in health care delivery across European Union member countries.

The Minister will speak at noon on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the Joukowsky Forum at the Watson Institute for International Studies, 111 Thayer Street. He will be introduced by Edward J. Wing MD, dean of medicine and biological sciences at Brown.  Lunch will be provided.

His talk is co-sponsored by the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) and by Brown University’s Global Health Initiative, Office of International Programs, Program in Liberal Medical Education, and the Watson Institute for International Studies.
