The Departments of Music and Anthropology present:
Global Indigeneity: A Mini-Conference on Indigenous Music and Performance
Please join us for an afternoon of presentations and conversation regarding contemporary indigenous music throughout the Americas, ranging from Alaska to the American Southwest to Bolivia and Brazil. Leading scholars in the field will discuss the changing place of musical performance in indigenous communities, as well as scholarly and/or activist efforts related to those performances. Featuring presentations by Trevor Reed (Hopi – Columbia University), Michelle Bigenho (Hampshire College), David Samuels (NYU), Aaron Fox (Columbia), and Anthony Seeger (UCLA/Smithsonian Institution). Supported by the Brown Humanities Initiative.
