Humanitarian Assistance at the Crossroads:
Brown University’s Role in Improving Humanitarian Effectiveness
Brown University has recently engaged with the Enhancing Learning and Research in Humanitarian Assistance (ELRHA), an international network of universities seeking to improve the delivery of humanitarian assistance after disaster and conflict through better training of aid workers and the development of relevant research priorities.
Humanitarian assistance touches on a variety of different fields, including medicine, public health, international relations, politics, economics, demographics, anthropology, sociology, law, and environmental and gender studies. This symposium, intended as the first of many, will bring together faculty and students from a variety of disciplines across the campus and beyond to begin a discussion on how Brown University can contribute to and engage with the field of humanitarian response.
Sponsored by the Global Health Initiative, the Department of Emergency Medicine, and the Watson Institute for International Studies.
Free and open to the public. Registration required.
