Having just returned from a research trip to Mexico, Dr. Felbab-Brown will discuss the security policy against organized crime that President Enrique Peña Nieto launched a year ago. She will analyze how the policy differs from that of his predecessor, President Felipe Calderon, and what effects it has had in reducing violence and reshaping the character of organized crime and law enforcement in Mexico.
Vanda Felbab-Brown is Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy, Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence at the Brookings Institution.
