The spring film series will seek to broaden and diversify the often sensationalist representations of urban life in Brazil’s two mega-metropoli: Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Rio, 40 Graus (Rio, 100 Degrees) is a classic quasi-documentary film from the 1950s by Nelson Pereira dos Santos that follows the lives of several children from a Rio favela.
