This year’s BCS theme, “A China for Everyone,” hopes to address the following question: as China changes, is it successfully creating a China for everyone?

Through our Education and Social and Technology Entrepreneurship panels, we hope to examine how China’s changes to its educational policies are incorporating – or failing to incorporate – previously marginalized youth populations, such as ethnic minorities and migrant students, and how China’s burgeoning entrepreneurial and startup culture is making social participation accessible for all.

Through our Foreign Policy panel and Keynote Speech, we hope to study how China’s expanding global influence, through its products, trends, and ideologies, is making a China for everyone around the world.

Brown China Summit is an annual event organized by a team of Brown undergraduate and graduate students. It is sponsored by the China Initiative at the Watson Institute for International & Public Affairs. The summit was created with the goal of bridging Brown and by creating opportunities for face-to-face conversations with leading figures in various fields, discussing China-related topics and introducing the dynamics in the development of China through speeches and presentations.

Brown China Summit 2016 consists of a keynote speech and three panels (Education, Foreign Policy and Social & Technological Entrepreneurship).
