Prime Minister Neves led the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde and was the Prime Minister of Cabo Verde from 2001 to 2016. He was a major driving force behind the development of Cabo Verde and is considered one of Africa's most dynamic leaders.
Born on the Island of Santiago, in the Republic of Cabo Verde, Jose Maria Neves was educated in Brazil in the Getulio Vargas Foundation and has a background in public administration. He is currently a faculty member of the University of Cabo Verde and is the author of Gestão das Impossibilidades
