On a remote atoll in the North Pacific Ocean, albatross chicks are dying, bodies filled with plastic. ALBATROSS unflinchingly shows the horror and grief of this tragedy, but ultimately brings us to a deeply felt experience of beauty and love for life on Earth. Stepping outside of traditional documentary film style, ALBATROSS delivers a profound message of reverence and renewal.
Prior to the screening, ALBATROSS director Chris Jordan and award-winning photographer Mandy Barker will discuss plastic pollution in the world's oceans.
Art at Watson is delighted to welcome representatives from Save the Bay to this event. They will bring us concrete ideas for remediating local water pollution. The Brown Bookstore will also be on site with reusable straw products.

About the artists
First-time director Chris Jordan is well known for his photographic work that explores the collective shadow of contemporary mass culture. Edge-walking the line between beauty and horror, abstraction and representation, the near and the far, the visible and the invisible, Jordan’s work confronts the enormous power of humanity’s collective will. His works are exhibited and published worldwide.
Mandy Barker is an award-winning photographer whose work involving marine plastic debris over the past 10 years has received global recognition. Working with scientists, she aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the world's oceans while highlighting the harmful effects on marine life and ultimately ourselves. Her work has appeared in National Geographic Magazine, TIME Magazine, Smithsonian, The New Scientist, The Explorer's Journal, The British Journal of Photography, Wired, and numerous other publications.
