Juan Francisco Martínez Pería received his Ph.D in History from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra, and is now Professor of Latin American History at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and at the Instituto Universitario Nacional de Derechos Humanos Madres de Plaza de Mayo. He is a visiting Fellow in the John Carter Brown Library. He is the author of ¡Libertad o Muerte! Historia de la Revolución Haitiana (2012), and the editor of Jean Louis Vastey, El sistema colonial develado (2018).
