Jessica Katzenstein

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology. My research interests include policing, the state, violence, whiteness, and reform. My dissertation takes an ethnographic approach to examine how police in Maryland are trained and equipped, how their institutions function, and how efforts to enact police reforms have unfolded.

I hold an MA in anthropology from Brown University and a BA magna cum laude in anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis.
