I am a PhD student in the Department of Political Science studying comparative Middle East politics. My focus is on political mobilization and rhetoric and their effects on economic and welfare reform in the region. My research and fieldwork has primarily been conducted in Egypt, with some additional work in Turkey.
I have a BA in Near Eastern Studies from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to Brown, I lived in Cairo, Egypt, first through the Fulbright Program and subsequently working at an NGO specializing in international development in the Middle East.
