Megan Turnbull is Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Skidmore College.
She studies political order, violence, and democratization with an empirical focus in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her book project examines the relationship between democracy and state-building through the lens of government responses to armed groups. In related work, she explores electoral violence, non-state welfare, political participation, and the political economy of development. Her research is forthcoming in Political Science Quarterly and has been generously supported by the Smith Richardson Foundation and the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs.
