Miao Tian is a first-year doctoral student of Sociology at Frankfurt University. She obtained her MA in political science at Sun Yat-sen University in China, and worked as a research assistant at the International Center for Joint Labor Research in Guangzhou. Her main fields of interest are the expanding of global production, workers’ protests, and changing labor relations in China. She has carried out research on the strike wave in the Pearl River Delta in 2010 and on collective bargaining and union reform in Guangdong Province. Now she is working her dissertation project: “Changing production systems and labor relations in China’s automotive industry.”
