Patrick Shaw

Patrick is a PhD student in the Sociology Department. He is broadly interested in using quantitative methods to study social problems. He plans to situate his research at the intersection of education, labor, migration, and the environment with a focus on emerging economies, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Patrick holds a BS in Physics from UT Austin and an MS in Statistics from UT San Antonio. Prior to beginning his doctoral work, he was a statistician with a research organization and spent several years teaching middle and high school math and science.
