Mehta is President of the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, one of India’s most distinguished think tanks. Dr Mehta has published widely in the fields of political theory, intellectual history, constitutional law, politics and society in India, and India’s emerging role in world affairs. His most recent books include The Burden of Democracy and an edited volume, India’s Public Institutions (with Devesh Kapur). His forthcoming work includes two books, Constitutionalism in Modern India and India’s Great Transformation. He is co-editor (with Niraja Jayal) of the Oxford Companion to Politics in India. Mehta has also written numerous columns for leading national and international newspapers. He is an Editorial Consultant to Indian Express newspaper in India. Mehta got his BA from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and has a PhD in Politics from Princeton University.
