Ramiro Segura is an anthropologist (Universidad Nacional de La Plata), holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences (Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento) and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Freie Universität (FU), Berlin. He is researcher of the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) at the Instituto de Altos Estudios Sociales, Universidad Nacional de San Martín where he is Professor of Urban Anthropology. His research focuses on the field of urban studies, on which he has given courses, seminars and conferences. In this field he has conducted research on cultural heritage, urban insecurity, socio-spatial segregation, daily mobility and social inequalities in the urban space. He has published articles in journals such as Cuadernos de Antropología Social and Quid 16 (Argentina), Periferia, Katálysis and Sociedade e Cultura (Brasil), Revista de Estudios Sociales (Colombia), Latin American Perspectives and Latin American & Caribbean Ethnic Studies (US), among others. He is co-editor of the books La vida política en los barrios populares de Buenos Aires, (Buenos Aires: Prometeo, 2009), Segregación y diferencia en la ciudad (Quito: FLACSO, 2013) and Hacerse un lugar: circuitos y trayectorias juveniles en ámbitos urbanos (Buenos Aires: Biblos, 2015). He published the book Vivir afuera. Antropología de la experiencia urbana (San Martín: UNSAM 2015).
