Tatenda Mukwedeya

Fall 2011 Tatenda is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He obtained an MA in Development Sociology from the same institution and completed his Bsc Hons in Sociology from the University of Zimbabwe. His interests lie in development and political sociology, particularly around issues of development, local governance, power and the post colonial state. Tatenda’s PhD seeks to understand the challenges being faced by local government in South Africa in executing their principal mandate of providing basic services. Specifically, his research focuses on the role of political instability and party-state relations in local government performance.
