Rhea Stark '18.5 at MES Undergraduate Paper Series on Wednesday December 6 2017, presenting her paper “Assessing Cohesion and Competition through Material Culture: the Umayyad Caliphate and Byzantium in Syncretic Space at the Final Frontier.”

One of the oldest and best-known awards for international study, Rhodes Scholars are chosen based on their academic record, as well as their leadership, personal qualities and demonstrated commitment to the betterment of society. The award provides recipients with all expenses for two or three years of graduate study at the University of Oxford in England. 

Rhea will complete the requirements for her degree this December and will graduate in May with a dual concentration in Middle East studies and archaeology and the ancient world. At Oxford, she intends to pursue a master’s degree in Islamic art and archaeology.
